Wanna know what you’ve got in common with Oprah Winfrey, Bill Gates or Elon Musk?
TWENTY-FOUR-HOURS. Just let that sink in for a moment.
These successful people have the exact same amount of time as you do in a day, the only difference is how they choose to utilize their hours in a day. They wake up, show up, make no excuses and get sh#t done! Even when there is reason to believe that something cannot be done, they will find a way to do it and do it without limitations which is what makes them great.
The reason why these people are able to get so much done in a day is because they balance their time effectively and the best part is, so can you! Here’s how to Manage Your Time for Success:
Create a Schedule and Stick to It
Create the damn schedule and stick to it! It is not a prison! The first step to managing your time is planning your time wisely. The key here is to know which time of day you are most focused and to complete the most important of tasks on your to-do list at this time. I generally choose to wake up in the early parts of the morning (2am-5am) and take on the hardest and most important tasks I have to do like studying or writing an article. This is the time my mind seems to work at its best and when I’m really focused and can produce best results. So find what’s best for you and work at it!
Get Rid of Distractions
Remove all the things that are always distracting to you. If you find that you’re always grabbing for the TV remote whilst doing work, work in a different room instead where there is no TV. Get rid of what distracts you, in most cases this could be a cellphone. We all know how tempting it can be so rather turn it into a reward after completing a task. If you’re constantly distracted by your phone, put it on silent and reward yourself each time you complete a task to go back on it for a couple of minutes and get back to work.
Do Not Procrastinate
Complete the task as soon as you get it. Don’t hesitate to start ahead of time because it will save you time later on. This is the best thing you could do for yourself! If you don’t feel motivated to start, try breaking the task down into smaller steps but rather complete it long before the deadline. You’ll have more time for unexpected things that always pop up in your schedule and besides your future self will thank you for it!
Make Time for Reading, Always
Bill Gates reads 50 books a year, that’s 1 book per week. If you want to know how to manage your time for success then you should always include reading in your schedule. Reading and opening up your mind to new concepts and things is so crucial to building a successful life. This is one that a lot of people miss when looking to succeed in life, not just monetarily but all aspects of life. Always make the time to read educational books that can teach you more about success and the career you want to go into. A great way to start is by reading other peoples success stories. This will change your life, I promise you!
