How to Start a Successful Blog

So you wanna be the next Aimee Song? Well you’re about to find out how to start a successful blog just like I did on Blogging Girl Daily! I totally get how hard it can be to get noticed out there but I also know that great results = hard work.

Here’s what I’ve learned over the past year or so through blogging mainly on WeHeartIt as well as Blogging Girl Daily. These tips focus not only on the technical aspects but also personal traits that you can develop on towards starting a successful blog.

1. Design an Attractive Blog

One of the most important aspects when starting out is designing a clean yet, attractive blog layout. Its important to have a setup that people will want to come back to. A great way to know what your audience will be attracted to is by seeing what websites you’re constantly visiting and always going back. Notice the key elements that keep you coming back like the type of fonts, styles of writing, pictures used and most importantly the overall first page design.

2. Add Value to Your Readers

Quality over quantity, always. One of the main things we forget to do is add value to our readers. When you post quality content that is useful to your readers and helps them in their day-to-day lives or simply makes them feel more enlightened on a subject, this is what makes a blog into a success. If you have a celebrity news blog for example, you can be the first to send out news to your readers before anyone else does. This shows readers that they need to be connected to your website in order to be the first that’s informed about what’s happening out there.

3. Be Consistent

This is something I cannot emphasize enough! As easy as it sounds, being consistent isn’t always that simple (..trust me I know!). In order to have a successful blog you have to constantly be providing content for your readers to stay hooked as well as bring in more readers. This is always spoken about in blogging classes and webinars because its the most effective way to gain an audience as a blogger that’s just starting out with no audience.

4. Be Specific About Who Your Audience Is

Be extra specific about your blogging niche. This is crucial to starting a successful blog and helps you to stand out more from the rest of the crowd, especially if you’re offering services and products that are aimed to certain customers. By using keywords that relate to your potential readers/subscribers, this will help them find you easier in a world full of blogs. Take into consideration what your readers would google if they’re looking for your blog post or website. This is a great way to build your email list too!

5. Develop a Strong Support System

Ever heard of the saying, “hang out with people who force you to level up“? Well from experience, this stands true. If you want to be successful in the blogging world, follow people who are in the same niche as you and aim to reach similar goals as you do. These are the people who will carry you through the ‘down’ times. I started blogging on We Heart It and gained an amazing support structure that carried me through my experience over the past year or so. These people who truly cared, noticed the times where I started slacking and completely lost track of my goals but the truly awesome part is, they also got me motivated to get back into it! Find the people who share your visions – they don’t have to be your friends or family and usually aren’t, but I can guarantee you, they will set you up for success!

I hope this helped you gain a little more insight on how to start a successful blog. If you’ve resonated with any of these tips or find one of them really useful, then let us know in the comments down below! Don’t forget to Subscribe for more, BGD has some exciting new things coming in July!
