You’ve just been handed the keys to your dream home. As you walk through the door, the scent of your favorite flowers follow you in from the garden outside. You take in the sound of the ocean in the background and notice the natural bright light fill up the hallway ahead of you. Inside, you see that everything has already been setup for you. Everything from your choice of furniture, down to the hand picked tiles and imported rugs. It’s all exactly the way you always envisioned it to be. Give yourself a moment to imagine the details of it all so vividly that it begins to feel surreal. Now, stop imaging and take note of just how serene that experience was. This is how to visualize and manifest your dreams into reality.

Visualization is a manifestation technique we use to attract the things we desire most into our reality. We visualize by creating visual representations of the things we want most in our lives through our imagination. When we use our imagination to envision the things we want, our intention must be to think of these thoughts as if they are really happening to us. We can do this by focusing on the feelings these imagined scenarios bring to us, which make them feel real.

Why Is Visualization Important And Why Should I Visualize?

If you have goals you want to achieve in life, visualization is your stepping stone to getting there. Many famous celebrities you know like Will Smith, Michael Jordon and Oprah Winfrey all use the power of visualization to get what they want in business and in life. This is because when you visualize the things you want, they alter the reality of your future and change your current state of being. Visualization elevates you on an emotional level in order to physically become and attract the things you want.

The Science Behind Visualization

1. R.A.S (Reticular Activating System)

Our brains take in a lot of information in a day. The R.A.S or Reticular Activating System is the part of our brain that helps filter out many unnecessary thoughts. In doing this it gives focus to our more relevant and important thoughts. Think of the R.A.S as what helps you to focus on certain things. The good news is that you are in control of this filter. Your brain is most impressionable around two times of the day. That is, in the morning just when you wake up, and in the evening before you go to bed. During these times of day, your brain gets into the Hypnagogic state.

In order for you to be in control of what your brain is focusing on throughout the day, it is important for you to be intentional about what your thoughts are, especially around these times of day. If you wake up in the morning focusing on the bad or unconsciously go about your evening routine at night, you are programing your brain to focus on all the negative things around you. Your R.A.S picks up on the things that you are giving into during your hypnagogic state and filters out all the good things around you so that you can focus more on the negative that you chose, to begin with or go to bed with.

2. Being Intentional

This is why being intentional about your thoughts everyday is so important. When you rewire your mind to filter out the bad and focus on the good, you are able to create more good in your life. Learning how to visualize as part of your morning and evening routine can be super beneficial to your mind, mood and actions in this way. Visualizing creates good feelings, and by choosing to visualize you are taking control of your mind and the rest of your day. This helps you to be in control of what your R.A.S filters out and focuses on.

If you think that visualization is a pointless, day dreaming exercise, remember this. When you visualize every morning, evening or both, you are causing your R.A.S to program your mind into seeing more of you focus on throughout parts of your day. If you are visualizing success in your relationship, or focusing on the good parts of your partner, you will see more of this in them and create a happier relationship. If you are doing the opposite, you will create a different outcome. Visualization brings about the things we think about.

3. The Brain Overlaps What Is Real And Fake

The reason visualization is so powerful is because your brain and body can barely distinguish the difference between what is real and what is fake. I say body too, because your body is your second brain, and is known for what ‘feels’ emotion. When you think of something or someone that really upsets you, you ‘feel’ this so much that it causes your body to react on it through sweating, shaking or perhaps even crying.

Do you see how visualization can do this to you as well? When you visualize something that makes you happy, you are not only causing your brain to focus on creating more of it, you are also feeling it which makes it real in your mind. Then there is only a matter of time before that bridge of who you are becoming, connects to where you want to go, by opportunities having no choice but to come your way.

4. The Importance Of Self-Talk & Repetition

Along with visualization, using a positive choice of words that align with the images you are creating in your mind makes it all the more powerful and believable. If you want to change your self image or feel like your self-worth is depleting from a bad experience, this can be useful for you too. The more positively you talk about yourself, the more you build up the confidence to believe you are worthy of achieving the things you want to attract into your life. This way you will stop attracting things like toxic partners, friends who don’t care about you or low income jobs and so on.

Paying attention to the way you talk to yourself and view yourself is huge in manifesting your dream life. You need to believe in yourself and repeat these positive affirmations that affirm you are the type of person who is capable of attracting good people and things into your life! Your R.A.S will help you focus on this too and create more situations where you prove to yourself that what you believe in is real.

Visualization Techniques

1. Guided Visualization Meditation

Visualization meditations are just like guided meditations, except you are being guided on how to visualize your dream life. If guided meditations aren’t your thing, of course you can just visualize on your own. Its essentially a normal sitting down, closing your eyes and visualizing routine except this time you have someone guiding you. I highly recommend this if you’re someone who is new to visualization or you find your mind wondering around too much when you try visualizing on your own. Guided visualizations are also really convenient for people who are perhaps in a noisy setting like work, school or on a bus. This is a great way to start your mornings or end your evenings too. Here’s one of my favorite visualization meditations.

2. Vision Boards

I wouldn’t say vision boards are a visualization technique, however it is nonetheless an amazing visualization tool. Vision boards are a great way to remind you of the things you want to attract into your life. Just like visualization, vision boards give you visual representations and reminders of your goals. I recently wrote a blog post on how to create a vision board for 2022, you can read more on.

3. Scripting

Scripting is one of my favorite visualization techniques. Instead of imagining your dream life, you are writing down the things you desire. With scripting you can get super detailed on the things you want to attract in your life. Be sure to also write in the present tense as if everything has already happened. For example, you could say, “this morning when I woke up, I turned to my bedside table, checked my phone and noticed that I got a notification from my bank. When I opened it, I saw that I had received my first $10,000 paycheck from my dream job.” You get the point… The key with scripting is to be super specific as possible and have fun with it!

4. Acting ‘As If’

Remember when you were little and used to play pretend? Well this is what ‘acting as if’ means. The point of acting as if is to feel like you’re already where you want to be and who you want to be. I love the examples Shonda Byrne used in The Secret. In one instance she mentioned how her sister wanted to move from Australia to where they were shooting the secret film, but couldn’t. So instead of losing all hope, her sister decided to ‘act as if’ she were moving. She packed her bags as if she were moving and lo and behold it eventually happened.

See which areas of your life you can apply this to. When you wake up each morning, imagine what it would feel like to wake up in your dream home and act as if. If you want to have more money, leave money around your house so you can feel and see that money is all around you!

5. Affirmations

Affirmations are another great tool to affirm the things you want to bring about into your life. Your self-talk is so important. The more you tell yourself who you are and what you are capable of, the more you believe it and become it. I love waking up in the mornings and practicing reciting my affirmations or before I go to bed. One of my favorite affirmations to say and let go of all the negative things said to or against me, “I let go of anything that does not belong to me.” These statements can be really powerful in rewiring your mind and uplifting your self-image.

How To Visualize And Manifest Your Dream Life

I tried writing this blog post, one without the other but in doing so, I’ve come to realize that is not possible. Visualize and manifestation both go hand in hand. In order to be great at one, you need the other. So here are my tips on how to visualize and manifest your dream life!

1. Get Super Specific On What You Want

The mistake many people make is not knowing exactly what they want. We all know we want to be successful but what do we want to do or achieve in order to make that first million? You have to get super detailed on your goals and know exactly what it is you’re trying to manifest. Visualization helps you do this. You can’t just say you’re going to start visualizing your dream life if you don’t know what that looks like down to the very last detail of what you want. You have to become crystal clear. If you don’t know what you want in a job, partner, health wise and so on, how do you expect to get it? 2. Who Do You Need To Become

Once you become clear on your goals, ask yourself who you need to become in order to achieve them. You cannot manifest your dream life into reality without getting clear on who you need to become. It is important to recognize the person you are now compared to the person you need to become, in order for you to bridge the gap between where you are and where you want to be.

For example, if you want to manifest a version of yourself that is fit, you need to become someone who is into fitness. If you want to manifest having attaining wealth, you need to learn how to become the type of person who knows how to manage money.

3. Become Aware Of Your Thoughts

Now that you are aware of who you need to become in order to get to where you need to go, it is time to become aware the way you think. If you want to achieve your dream life and become the best version of yourself in order to do so, you cannot still think the way you do now and expect to get there. Your mindset has to change and let go of the thoughts the no longer serve you. More importantly, you have to replace your old limiting beliefs with thoughts that are in alignment with your goals.

4. Release Any Fear and Resentment

In saying the above, it is important to filter out the thoughts that no longer align with who you want to be. These thoughts can be things like holding onto an ex, replaying a fight you had a sibling over and over or even how stress and worried you about your bank account. If you were the type of person that were in a happy relationship, you wouldn’t be holding onto an ex in your mind, would you? Or if you were someone who had an abundance of money in their bank account, you wouldn’t be worried and stressed about what’s in your balance right now, would you? Therefore, you need to stop aligning with these thoughts and feelings, if this is no longer the trajectory you wish to continue your life on. You have to release fear and resentment.

It is so easy for us to wake up each day, repeating the same negative banter in our minds on autopilot. Days turns into weeks, weeks turn into months and months turn into years of us living our lives in fear and resentment. This in turn becomes who we are and we never end up reaching our full potential because of it. Making a conscious effort to notice these thoughts and change them is the only way to stop them from continuing. The best way to replace your negative thoughts, is by rewiring your mind.

5. Rewire Your Mind

Rewiring your mind is like building a new muscle. It takes time and repetition to get it into good shape, just like it took time and repetition of bad ‘unconscious thinking’ habits to get it to where it is now. When negative thoughts you are so used to thinking arise, start replacing them with good thoughts instead. If that’s too difficult, simply stop and realize how this thought is making you feel and then stop giving it any significance. The more you think a bad thought and feel it emotionally, you are engaging with what you no longer wish to attract. Thus, you attract more of it because you are familiarizing yourself with it as part of you.

An important part of manifestation and learning how to visualize, is to focus on the things you want. As much as visualization is a more focused and intentional way of doing this, it is still important to constantly be taking note of your thoughts and rewiring them. Think of this as exercise for the mind. When we rewire our minds to focus more on what we want and less on the things that don’t serve us, we are then able to then able to create feelings that align with who we are trying to become, and start manifesting the good.

6. Imagine Your Desired Outcome

In learning how to visualize and manifest your dream life, you have to imagine your desired outcome. Remember that little visualization exercise we did at the beginning of this post? This is exactly what you need to practice more of in order to learn how to visualize and become a master manifester. When you practice imagining your desired outcome like the house you want, the job, car or relationship, you become familiar with these feelings of having these things and essentially become that person. This is when opportunities arises and meet you at the level you are at! I know right, it seems so obvious yet we don’t do it enough!

7. Get Emotionally Attached To Your Dream Life

Get emotionally attached to your goals and dreams! The main reason we learn how to visualize and practice visualization is because it helps us to stir up those good, wholesome feelings within ourselves. The more emotional we become about our goals, the more we get attached to them and want them so bad that we take inspired action. Look, the reality is that nothing is just going to fall into your lap, you have to work at the things you want in life. However, when you become emotionally attached to something, you want to do your best for it.

Think of your the hobbies you maintain because you love them, or how you would do anything for your pets, or the person you love to give them the best of yourself. Just like that, getting emotionally attached to your goals means that you will never give it up and always see it through. This is where taking inspired action comes from!

8. Change Your State Of Being

When you alter your thoughts, you alter your emotions. In doing this, you change your state of being. You are no longer the person you used to be, instead you are becoming who you want to be. The crazy reality of it all is that at any given moment, you get to choose when you want to create change. The more you practice creating change in the way you think and feel, the more you change the state of your being and become who you want to be. You do not have to stay stuck being the “depressed” one or the one that everyone knows to be “unhappy” or “unsuccessful.” You can choose to change your demeanor each time you practice changing your state of being.

9. Get Into Alignment

With that said, get into alignment with who you’re trying to become. Don’t just think that doing the mind work is going to get you to where you need to go. The mind and body are connected, you have to work both in coordination with one another. If your desire outcome is to build a successful business, don’t just visualize it and rewire your thoughts to think like a successful business owner, align your daily routines with this type of person too.

You have to embody the type of person you want to become. Put in the hours a successful person would put in, do the work they would do, take the steps they would take, the risks, the sacrifices and so on. Once you know who you want to become, its easier to embody the qualities it takes to become that person.

10. Practice Visualization Techniques

If you want to learn how to visualize and manifest your dream life, put the techniques into practice. There are tons of visualization techniques and exercises you can try, including the ones we’ve already gone through above. The more you practice visualization the better you become at getting familiar with your new state of being and who you want to be and the quicker it can manifest for you!

How To Become A Master Manifestor

1. Let Go And Trust The Process

If you’re visualizing something in your life, you’re obviously trying to manifest something. In order you to be successful at manifesting what you want though, you have to let go and trust the process. This doesn’t mean you should stop working at what you want, it simply means that you should just stop worrying about when your goals will be achieved and just trust that as long as you do your part, the universe, God or whatever it is you believe in, will do its part.

On a more practical level, make sure you’re sticking to your habits that align with what you want. You do not need to worry about the future if you are making 1% improvements each day that you know will take you to where you want to go. Sticking to our habits is already hard enough, so just focus on that and trust in the process. If you can do this, you’ve already done what most people can’t.

2. Engage More With Elements Of Your Desired Outcome

There are many people like Kyle Richards, who will tell you stories of how they used to drive passed their dream homes everyday or the area and just envision themselves living there and how it came true for them. This is what it means to engage with what you desire to create more of in your life. The more you surround yourself around the types of people you want to attract into your life, or the environments and neighborhoods you want to be in or the even test driving a car you’ve always wanted, you are helping yourself become familiar with these feelings. This helps you better align.

3. Show Up As Your Higher Self

Whenever problems arise in your life or your faced with minor decisions that will throw you off your routine, get into the habit of asking yourself, “what would my higher-self do?” and then act as your higher-self would. Your higher-self is the best version of yourself. He or she is the person you know you want to become, and in order to become that person you’re gonna have to start showing up as them. So start now.

I cannot tell you how refreshing it feels to pull yourself out of the paradigm you’re in and change your perspective by acting as your higher-self. Most times when you question what your higher-self would do in a situation, chances are they probably wouldn’t even care because their lives are far more than some little insignificant problem or person. The more you practice this, the more you will become the person you want to be.

4. Educate Yourself

In learning how to visualize and manifest your dream life, you’re gonna have to constantly educate yourself in order to always stay engaged and well informed. Do your own research, see what works for you and keep learning. Read, watch or listen to success stories of manifestation. Engage with books like The Secret, or inspiring videos and podcasts that help you to learn more on this topic. It took me years to learn all the things I am able to write about today! If you want to be your best, it is your responsibility to find out how and what resources are out there help take you to where you want to go.

5. Believe In Miracles

If anything, believe that everything you want and desire is possible and that it can come to you at any given time. I don’t care where in the world you are or how stuck and lonely or depressed you feel your situation is. If you believe in miracles and that anything can happen at anytime in order for your life to change, it will happen. You just have to believe that these things are possible.

6. Practice Gratitude

My last manifestation tip is my biggest one. Always be grateful for what you have and practice gratitude. The more grateful you become for who and what is already around you and the resources you currently have, the more you have to be attract and be grateful for in the future. Remember, the more you wire your brain to practice gratitude, the more you will notice all the things around you, that you have to be grateful for. If you’re afraid that this will make you complacent with your current situation, I can promise you it won’t. All it will do, is elevate it!

How I Came To Know About Visualization

A few years ago, I came across a video TED Talk by Carrie Green that really inspired me. She spoke about how powerful visualization was in transforming her life and how she created a six figure business through it amongst some other crazy goals she set for herself like talking in Buckingham Palace! Insane right? I was always familiar with the law of attraction before this but no one had really explained visualization the way she did. That’s when things really clicked for me.

From there I began to educate myself more on how the mind works and the mind body connection and how exactly visualization, the law of attraction, gratitude and all these other elements tie in together and work. Its honestly been so interesting for me and I’ve been learning about these things for a good few years now. I love teaching them too and showing people how they can use these techniques to improve their own lives!

My Favorite Visualization Resources and Inspiration

I highly recommend reading The Secret. That book is like the manifestation bible. If you’re new to all of this though, I recommend reading You are a Badass by Jen Sincero first. Its a really great start to opening up your mind especially if you come from a background that’s opposed to that sort of thing, like I was. It gives you a huge perspective change and I’m so glad I found that book when I was in my late teens!
