Almost all across the globe many of us have been under lockdown for the past few months, and with that new free found time we thought it would be great to learn how to glow up during quarantine. Now there’s absolutely nothing wrong with that if you’re doing it from a healthy, positive place. However, you have to cut yourselves some slack from time to time and remember that we are still going through a global pandemic. There are gonna be days where you naturally just feel so out of it and don’t want to commit to anything. That’s when the pressure to glow up during quarantine can easily make you feel awful about yourself, especially when you don’t have the energy to work towards anything.
When you feel the pressure to glow up just because everyone else is doing it, things can really take a bad turn for your mental health. This is why it’s important that you show yourself some self-love and remember that you have absolutely nothing to prove to anyone but yourself. When you choose to not give into the pressure to glow up during quarantine, this puts you in a good mental space. The choice is yours, whether you want to glow up or just be happy with where you are right now. There is nothing to feel guilty about or a need to better yourself just because everyone else is doing it, so you, do you!
1. Taking One Day At A Time
In times like this, it’s important to remember to take one day at a time. If you feel like everything you need to do is taking a toll on your mental health then take a step back. Remember, that our brains are going through a lot right now with all the uncertainty around us. We have to learn how to manage our minds and take control of our thoughts during this time. When you keep ignoring the signs that you just need to take a step back for a bit to think things through, then you’re only gonna prolong things and make them worse for yourself.
2. It’s Okay To Fall Back A Little
With that being said, it’s okay to fall back a little. Not in an unhealthy, self-sabotaging way of course, but in the sense that you just take a break from all the extra things you’ve got going on. Sometimes the things we need to take a break from are the pressures we put on ourselves, that we’re often in control of. Like the pressure to glow up during quarantine for example. If you feel too guilty to stop working out, eating healthy or even take a break from working on your personal goals in general, then perhaps it’s important that you do fall back a little.
Don’t underestimate the ability that taking short breaks have on making you feel refreshed, giving you newer and better ideas, and making you feel re-energised again. Sometimes this is all you need to gain a new perspective on things in order to bounce back!
3. Don’t Feel Guilty About It
It’s hard to not feel guilty about not working on yourself, especially when everyone else seems to be glowing up during quarantine. You have to remember, that we only see peoples highlights in this day and age, online. Nobody is working 24/7. We all need to take breaks and we all need to rest and recuperate, but more importantly we all have times where we just feel stuck.
Just because you don’t often see these sides to people online, does not mean it isn’t happening. Take for instance the things you share online. No one wants to expose their worst selves to the world, however that doesn’t mean we don’t go through tough things either. So stop feeling guilty about taking a break and feeling the need to just be, without doing anything. We all do it!
4. Stop Comparing Yourself To Others
When it comes to avoiding the pressure to glow up during quarantine, it’s important to be aware of not comparing yourself to others. While we’re at home right now, we have more time than ever to be scrolling through social media, where there are tons of opportunities are available for us to be falling into comparison traps. By simply being aware of this and learning to be confident in who we are already, we can avoid this. Just because someone else is really desperate to glow up during quarantine and is working out like crazy everyday, doesn’t mean you have to.
When you compare yourself to these people and now want to do exactly what they do, how they do it and get the results they have, that is when you need to realise that you’re not doing this for yourself anymore. That just means you’ve given into the pressure to glow up during quarantine.
5. Glowing Up For Yourself
If you want to glow up during quarantine, again, make sure you’re doing it for yourself and that you’re not just doing it because you feel pressured to. When you do things for yourself and not to seek validation from others, that is how you build lasting and healthy habits for yourself. This is what makes you stick through with your goals and makes you love yourself regardless of the end result. The last thing you want to do is fall into the pressure of glowing up during quarantine in order to seek validation from someone else, only to not receive it.
6. Get Back Into Things Slowly
Sometimes when it comes time to getting back into things, it can be difficult. We feel stuck and as if we’re not progressing even though we really want to. This is when you should give yourself time to ease into your goals. If you’re trying to glow up during quarantine, take things step by step. Slowly but surely, you will eventually feel yourself getting back into routine again. Glowing up should be something that benefits you and makes you feel good along the journey. You shouldn’t have to always feel the need to force yourself into things, so make the process enjoyable.
7. Practice Selfcare
Selfcare should definitely be a priority in your daily life. However, in particular when it comes to the pressure to glow up during quarantine it should be your source of normalcy that helps you to get through. When you feel bad for not partaking or doing something everyone else is doing, sit back and give yourself some selfcare and love. Hone in on yourself and ask yourself what it is that you want. What will be good for you in this moment and make you feel happy? Selfcare can help you to make more calmer and rational decisions because in those moments you are getting quite and paying attention to what’s really going on inside you.
8. Do Things That Make You Happy
With that being said, practice ways of selfcare, by doing the things that make you feel full and happy. This doesn’t always have to just be little things, it can even be getting your sweat on and going for a long run. Whatever it is that helps you to feel like you’re doing what’s best for you and your body, is already a way to glow up in its own. You don’t have to give into the pressure to glow up during quarantine when you lifestyle incorporates selcafe and taking care of your body and mind each day!
9. Just Breathe Through The Anxiety
Often times when we feel pressured and like we’re not getting anywhere the way others are, it can really take a toll on our anxiety levels. This is when you have to let go and just breathe. Do a social media detox or stay away from what triggers you to feel pressured, for a while. Just allow yourself to come to terms and understand that you do not have to change who you are right now if you don’t feel comfortable doing it. Even if it does mean it’s for the better, by learning how to glow up during quarantine. Sometimes we’re just not ready and that’s okay.
Some people are ready for a change and so desperate for it that they’re willing to do anything. However, if you’re not ready for this and don’t yet have the mental capacity to pull through with these changes just yet, that’s okay too. Your time will come when you’re ready, so don’t feel like you’re begin left behind. It’s nothing to stress about or worry yourself over. Be patient with yourself and the chapter you’re in right now because there are proabaly still things you need to get through first and learn before you can persevere somewhere else.
10. Keep A Healthy Mindset
With that being said, during this time where we’re all feeling the pressure to glow up during quarantine, so remember to keep your head above the water and hone in on a healthy mindset. Do whatever you need to do in order to achieve that and always prioritize your mental health and wellbeing. Only you know what’s best for you, so keep on practicing those healthy habits and mindsets that keep you sane and on the right page.
Remember, that as an individual you always have a choice to do what makes you feel best, so do exactly that. Stay disciplined and grounded in your goals no matter what they may be, whether it’s to take time off and relax during quarantine or to learn how to glow up during quarantine. The choice is yours! Just make sure that whatever you do, you do it from a healthy place and one of love for yourself.
